Depression is a common but serious illness and can be recurrent  (i.e people recover but can develop another episode later)

Some symptoms of depression

An unusually sad mood that does not go away.

Loss of enjoyment and interest in activities that used to be enjoyable.

Lack of energy and tiredness

CBT can help  you manage your depression by helping you to make sense of overwhelming problems that can be caused by either a symptom of Depression or what led up to it. It does this by breaking things down into 5 smaller parts.

  • situations
  • thoughts
  • emotions
  • physical feelings
  • actions

CBT is based on the view that these five areas are connected and impact each other. For example, your thoughts about a certain situation can often affect how you feel both physically and emotionally, as well as how you act in response.
